Week's Achievements: Mitcheltree was incredible for the Eagles at the Mid-American Conference Championships, Feb. 22-25, as the Green and White claimed second with a total of 600 points. The point total was the highest for EMU since 2007.
In addition to setting the 100 Backstroke school record with a time of 52.70, Mitcheltree became just the second Eagle to claim the MAC title in league history. The Moon Twp., Pa. native notched the Green and White's first win in the event since the inaugural MAC Championships back in 1981, when Rena Cox accomplished the task, and crushed the previous MAC and meet records. Hot off a 100 Backstroke title, Mitcheltree secured a fourth-place finish to pace the Green and White, setting the Eastern Michigan record with a career-best time of 1:56.74. Mitcheltree also helped the Eagles to a second-place finish in both the 200 and 400 Medley Relays and a fourth-place mark in the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays, while also adding an 11th-place finish in the 50 Freestyle. Ultimately, Mitcheltree came away with First Team All-MAC honors.
