Eagles of the Week Presented by EMUCU

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are cross country athlete, Jordann McDermitt, and swimming & diving athlete, Logan Burton.

Week's Achievements: Senior Jordann McDermitt led the Eagles with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship, Friday, Nov. 10, in Terre Haute, Ind. Crossing the finish line in 20:46, the Davison, Mich. native earned all-region honors for the third straight year, and helped EMU place fourth in the tough regional division. Additionally, her performance assisted EMU in earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, which serves as just the third time in program history the team has qualified for the national event, and the second time in two years.

Logan Burton

Week's Achievements: Senior Logan Burton was a large contributor to Eastern's 193-107 win over Oakland University, Saturday, Nov. 11. Competing in two relays and two individual events, Burton brought in 18 points for the Green and White. In the 200 medley relay, Burton started the meet off with the fastest 50 backstroke split in the pool, helping the foursome to a second-place finish. The Chesapeake, Va. native earned his first individual event win in the 100 back, clocking in at 49.36, the fastest in the MAC this season. In the 100 fly, Burton clocked in at 49.44 for another top finish. In the final event of the afternoon, Burton aided his 400 free relay cohort to a first-place finish.
