Eagles of the Week Presented by EMU Financial

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Financial's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Jeremiah Harris and volleyball player Kelly Ferguson.

Jeremiah Harris

Week's Achievements: Harris led Eastern Michigan's impressive defensive effort in a thrilling, 27-24, win over Wyoming, Sept. 23. The Lambertville, Mich. product finished the night with five tackles in the win, highlighted by a sack that resulted in an eight-yard loss. Harris was all over the field for the Eagles, forcing a quarterback hurry and blocking a pass at the line of scrimmage in addition to making a momentum shifting play in the third quarter. With less than a minute remaining in the third period, Harris and the Eagle defense put together a goal line stand that ultimately forced Wyoming to attempt a field goal. Harris blocked the 22-yard field goal attempt, keeping the score 20-17, in favor of EMU.

Kelly Ferguson
Sport:  Volleyball
Position:  Middle Blocker
Year:  Junior
Major:  Communication

Week's Achievements: Ferguson led the Eastern Michigan offense to a 1-1 record on opening weekend of Mid-American Conference play. The Lemont, Ill. native led the Eagles in kills with 20 on the weekend, including 12 versus Ball State, Sept. 24. The junior averaged two kills per set, while notch 0.70 blocks per frame. Overall, Ferguson hit at a .341 clip, with her best match coming against BSU, hitting .363.
