The sports performance coaches will host the Fourth of July themed event on June 30
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — With the Fourth of July rapidly approaching, the Eastern Michigan University sports performance coaches are preparing to host the Red, White, and Boom event on June 30 at 7 p.m.
The event, which will have a Fourth of July theme, is one of a small number of themed events that the sports performance coaches host each year. 10 teams will be assigned by the coaches, which will primarily be composed of football players, and supplemented by any additional student-athletes who are on campus at the time.
These 10 teams will then compete in a series of 10 events, all of which are multi-faceted and have different pieces. In the simplest terms, each team will have to finish a task within a time allotment, such as sled pushes, medicine ball carries, and other outside of the box, yet simple tasks with a twist.
All participants are encouraged to wear their best red, white, and blue attire, as there will also be a best-dressed team competition. Following the event, there will be a cookout to close out the day.
The workout is voluntary and at each student-athlete's discretion. Students-athletes need not attend the workout in order to come to the meal or any other activities/events. Anyone participating in the workout must have 1) completed a physical exam and 2) formally committed to EMU by signing an NLI, scholarship agreement, or signed up for fast track orientation.
