The sophomore was honored for the third time in her career

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced today, Feb. 9, that sophomore Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) was named MAC Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 5-6. This marks the third time that the sophomore has received the award, as she took home two last season.

McDermitt led the Eagles on the second day of the Meyo Invite, placing eighth in the very competitive 3000m run. The Davison, Mich. native clocked in at 9:18.86, which was not only a personal-best, but also brought her closer to the fastest 3000m time in EMU history, which is held by Victoria Voronko. Her time currently sits at No. 15 in the nation, and is the fastest in the MAC, with the next closest conference competitor being teammate Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia - Lyceum #83) in 32nd.

McDermitt has followed up her stellar freshman season with a great start to her second year as an Eagle. So far, she has placed in the top-10 of every event she participated in, and has set career-bests in both the mile and the 3000m. Along with Bogdanova, she has spearheaded the great distance group that has set a number of records on the season already.

McDermitt and the Eagles continue the indoor season this weekend with a pair of meets. The Green and White will be attending both the Iowa State Classic and the GVSU Big Meet, both of which will take place Feb. 12-13.
