Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Financial's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. Thisweek's winners arewrestler Dakota Juarez and women's swimmer Delaney Duncan.

Juarez won his matchup in Eastern Michigan's only dual action of the week against Northern Illinois, Jan.30. The 165-pounder defeated No. 4 ranked MAC grappler Shaun'Qae McMurtry by 10-3 decision, narrowly missing the major decision. Juarez used four takedowns, an escape and riding time to take the win. It was Juaraz's second win over a MAC ranked opponent this season, and the win moved his dual record to 6-3 on the season, including 4-2 in MAC duals.

Duncanopened her day as part of the Eagles' winning relay team against Bowling Green State University, Jan.29. Duncan swam the second leg of EMU's 200 Medley Relay team, besting the Falcons by more thanfour seconds with a time of 1:40.97. Duncan then turned her attention to individual events where sheturned in a pair of career-bests that placed her high in program laurels. First in the 100 Breaststroke,Duncan claimed the victory with a program-best of 1:01.20, shaving more than a second off of herprevious personal-best. Additionally, Duncan clocked in three seconds ahead of the competition withthe second fastest time in the Mid-American Conference this year. As of Jan. 30, Duncan is the onlyfreshman to rank in the events top-19 times in the conference. The Galeseburg, Ill. product closed outher day with a sweep of the Breaststroke events, turning in the fourth-fastest time in EMU history.Duncan clocked in with a time of 2:16.65, the fifth-fastest race in the MAC this season.
