The Eagles close 2016 with a 6-10-4 overall record
KENT, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team saw its season come to a close in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Sunday, Oct. 30. Taking on No. 2 seeded Kent State University, the No. 7 seeded Eagles (6-10-4, 4-5-2 MAC) fell, 2-0.
Kent State (13-2-2, 8-1-2 MAC) controlled the game in the first 10 minutes of play, testing the Green and White defense often. The Eagles stood strong, weathering six KSU corners and six shots as sophomore Kaylin Williams (Kansas City, Mo.-Winnetonka) came up with a crucial save, while senior Rachel Washburn (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) and redshirt senior Jennifer Bentley (London, Ontario-London) made several strong tackles to keep the match scoreless.

Freshman Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street) and seniors Ellie Tillar (Cincinnati, Ohio-Turpin), and Michelle Rollins (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) stirred up a few scoring chances as time winded down but could not capitalize.
The Golden Flashes broke the scoreless draw six minutes into the second half as KSU played the ball forward to Donavan Capehart who registered the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute.

Intercepting a pass in the midfield, the Golden Flashes' volleyed a cross out of the reach of Williams, pushing KSU's lead to 2-nil, in the 81st minute.
EMU spent a majority of the final nine minutes defending the Kent State attack, eventually falling, 2-nil.
