YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team, in an effort to prepare for its first competition on Nov. 5, will hold an intrasquad meet Sunday, Oct. 23. The meet will be held at Clinton High School in Clinton, Mich. and will begin at 3 p.m.
The meet will be preceded by a technique clinic to be put on by the team. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the two clinics which will run from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. The clinic will include instruction from EMU Wrestling Head Coach David Bolyard, as well as from his staff, and EMU student-athletes. The clinic is open to any and all wrestlers.
The cost of the clinic is $40, and the price includes the clinic, attendance for the intrasquad meet, season tickets to all seven of EMU's 2015-16 home duals, and a clinic t-shirt.
The intrasquad meet will hold the same format as a regular season dual, pitting the EMU grapplers against each other at all 10 of the collegiate weight classes. The match-ups will be determined by preliminary wrestle-offs set to occur this week.
The 2016-17 season gets underway Saturday, Nov. 5, with the EMU Open at the Convocation Center. Eastern will host numerous teams for an open style tournament that will run all day. EMU's first dual of the season is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11, with a road meet against Olivet College at 7 p.m.
