Raymond Earns Second MAC Runner of the Week Honor This Season

The senior was able to secure his second conference honor of the season, and fourth of his career

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Mid-American Conference announced today, Oct. 18, that No. 27 Eastern Michigan University men's cross country senior Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich. - Mason) was named the MAC Runner of the Week for his performance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, Oct. 14.
Raymond paced the Eagles in their race at the Wisconsin Invite this past weekend, as the Green and White bested a number of ranked teams after finishing 17th with 421 points. Specifically, the Eagles finished ahead of then No. 15 Eastern Kentucky, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 24 Providence, No. 25 Penn, and No. 29 Illinois.
Individually, Raymond ran to a 54th-place finish, clocking in at 24:38.3 in his second race of the season. The Erie, Mich. native made his move at the end of the race, jumping from 76th to 54th within the final 2,000 meters. The honor marks the third for the Eagles this season, and the fourth of Raymond's career.
Raymond and the Eagles conclude the regular season this Friday, Oct. 21, with the annual EMU Fall Classic. The women will begin the event at 4:30 p.m., while the men will follow at 5 p.m.
