Eagles of the Week Presented by EMU Financial

Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Financial's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Ikie Calderon and women's soccer player Julia Lombardi.

Week's Achievements:
Calderon recorded 17 total tackles, including 10 solo stops against Ball State, Sept. 19. The safety did not start, but entered the game in the first quarter as a defensive replacement. The 17 tackles are the most by an Eagle this season, by six tackles, and is the first double-digit tackling effort of his EMU career.

Week's Achievements:
Lombardi fueled the Eagles', 2-1, comeback win over Green Bay, Sunday, Sept. 20. Lombardi registered the first goal of her career in the 27th minute on a penalty kick to tie the score at one. An outside back known for her defensive prowess, Lombardi's goal was one of two unanswered goals by the Eagles. Additionally, the Oakville, Ontario native's defensive play down the stretch fueled the Eagles to a 29-8 shot advantage in the match.
