YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University E-Club Alumni Chapter, the official varsity athletic letterwinners club, has announced the addition of seven new members into the E-Club Athletic Hall of Fame. The Class of 2015 will be honored at the Hall of Fame ceremony Friday, Sept. 18, in the atrium of the Convocation Center.
The Class of 2015 includes: Joseph Codrington (men's track and field), Tracy Deeter (women's soccer), George Harrison (football and baseball), Paul Scicluna (women's soccer coach), L.J. Shelton (football), Stephanie Smiley (women's basketball) and Barry Susterka (men's swimming and diving).
This year's class will mark the 40th anniversary of the E-Club Athletic Hall of Fame. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. inside the Convocation Center followed by the ceremony and dinner at 7 p.m. The Class of 2015 will then be recognized during the EMU football game on Saturday, Sept. 19, against Ball State University.

The biographies for the Eastern Michigan University Athletics Hall of Fame 2015 inductees follow below.
JOSEPH "CODGIE" CODRINGTON
Men's Track and Field: Graduated in 1984...Outstanding track athlete hailing from Barbados...Competed in both indoor and outdoor track from 1981-1984...Helped EMU capture six Mid-American Conference Championships in indoor and outdoor track in 1982, 1983 and 1984...Member of the MAC Distance Medley Relay Indoor Championship Team in 1981...Placed third in the 800 Meter run at the Indoor Central Collegiate Championship in 1981...Member of the second place 1,600 Meter Relay Team at the Indoor CCC in 1982, while also placing third in the 600 Yard Run...Placed third in the Outdoor CCC 800 Yard Run in 1982...Three-time MAC Champion in the outdoor 1,600 Meter Relay Team in 1982, 1983, and 1984...Member of the MAC Indoor 1,600 Meter Relay and Distance Medley Relay Championship Team in 1983...Member of the Outdoor CCC 1,600 Meter Relay Championship Team in 1983...Indoor MAC Champion of the 600 Yard Run in 1984...Member of the Indoor CCC Distance Medley Championship Team in 1984 while also placing third in the 600 Yard Run...Helped EMU win two CCC Outdoor Titles in 1983 and 1984 and an Indoor Title in 1984...Member of the NCAA Indoor National Title Distance Medley Team in 1984...Member of the 1,600 Meter Relay Team that qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Meet in 1984... Placed third in the 800 Yard Run at the MAC Outdoor Championship in 1984...Finished his EMU track career with an Indoor 600 Yard Run time of 1:10.70, ranking seventh all-time at EMU and 22nd in the Outdoor 800 Meter Run with a time of 1:50.53...Member of the second fastest Outdoor 1,600 Meter Relay Team in school history at 3:06.04 with Mike Calhoun, David Beasley and Earl Jones...Served the Ann Arbor Track Club in various ways, working with both grade school and post-collegiate athletes, administratively and coaching...Served as a track athlete agent to various athletes competing in the Olympics including EMU runners Eric Alejandro, at the London Games in 2012, and Fabian Rollins, at the Sydney Games in 2000...Actively recruits Women's Track and Field athletes from Barbados to EMU, several of which have been inducted in the Athletic Hall of Fame.
TRACY DEETER
Women's Soccer: Graduated in 2001...Four-year letterwinner in women's soccer from 1997-2000...Led the Eagles to a 1999 Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship with a 10-1-3 conference record (17-4-3 overall)...Helped the team claim the MAC Tournament Title in 1999, while also making the All-Tournament Team...Two-time First Team All-MAC in 1999 and 2000...Earned All-Great Lakes Region First Team honors in 1999 and Second Team honors in 2000...Named Academic All-MAC in 2000 and was Honorable Mention in 1998...First player in program history to be named CoSIDA Academic All-American as well as a College Scholar All-American in 2000...Named MAC Player of the year in 2000...Helped led EMU to a 52-25-7 record throughout her four seasons, including an impressive conference record of 29-9-5.
GEORGE "BEAU" HARRISON
Football and Baseball: Graduated in 1967 and earned a master's degree in 1972...A talented and versatile athlete, earned seven letters in baseball and football from 1962-65...Recorded nine wins on the mound and a .279 batting average as an outfielder and first baseman in his three year baseball career...Started 26 consecutive football games and recorded eight interceptions in 1963, which ranks third in EMU record books and finished his football career with 16 interceptions, which is second in EMU football history...Started both as defensive back and wide receiver in 1964 and was second in pass receptions and points scored...Served as the team punter for two years, along with returning punts and kick-offs...Selected as an All-Conference defensive back in 1965 and signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions in 1966...Coached baseball and football at Ypsilanti St. John and Dearborn Sacred Heart...His outstanding players and successful teams lead to his induction in the Detroit Catholic League Coaches Hall of Fame...Graduated from EMU in 1967 and earned a master's degree in 1972, leading to a 34 year career in education as a coach, teacher, principal and school superintendent...Selected by the EMU Athletic Department in 2014 as a "Legend of the Game" in recognition of his football career at EMU...Member of the Kappa Phi Alpha fraternity and the Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
PAUL SCICLUNA
Women's Soccer Coach: First head coach of the EMU women's soccer program after it was started in 1994...Led the team to a 38-32-2 record during his tenure, including an 11-5-2 mark in Mid-American Conference play in 1997 and 1998...Died tragically on a recruiting trip in 1999...Has the EMU women's varsity field named in his honor— Paul Scicluna Field.
L.J. SHELTON
Football: Four-year letterwinner for the EMU football team...Started four seasons at offensive left tackle from 1995-1998...Served as team captain in 1998...Named team Most Valuable Player in 1998: only the second time the award was given...Two-time Mid-American Conference First Team selection in 1997 and 1998...Named Third-Team All-American by "The Football News" in 1998...First football player in school history to be named to four post college All-Star games, with invitations to the Senior Bowl, the East-West Shrine Game, the Blue-Gray Game and the All-Star Gridiron Classic...Finished his career with 254 pancake blocks and 33 game starts, which ranks 14th in the EMU all-time record books...Highest National Football League draft choice in EMU history when he was selected as the 21st pick in the 1999 draft as a first-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals...Played 11 years in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals (1999-2005), the Cleveland Browns (2005-2006), the Miami Dolphins (2006-2008) and the San Diego Chargers (2008-2010)...Played in a total of 146 games in the NFL starting in 127 of the contests.
STEPHANIE SMILEY
Women's Basketball: Graduated in 2004...Started four straight seasons earning four varsity letters in women's basketball from 1999-2002...Led EMU to four consecutive winning seasons for the first time in school history...Named to the All Mid-American Conference Freshman Team and received the MAC Freshman of the year honors in 1999...Named Second Team All-MAC in 1999-2000 season...Named Preseason First Team All-MAC in 2000-01 and 2001-02...First Team All-MAC selection twice in the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons, becoming the first player in EMU Women's Basketball school history to earn First Team honors twice in her career...Named WBCA All-American Honorable Mention in 2002...Finished her career with 1,401 points, 784 rebounds, 174 three-point baskets, 491 free-throws, 243 steals, 103 blocked shots, 13 career double-doubles and EMU's first ever triple-double...First player in EMU history to start every possible game of her career with 114 game starts and left EMU holding career records for games played, game starts, minutes played (4,288 minutes), assists (577) and rebounds (784)...Named MAC Player of the Week seven times during her career...First player in MAC history - man or women - to record at least 1,400 points, 700 rebounds, 500 assists, and bench mark 200 steals and 100 blocked shots.
BARRY D. SUSTERKA
Swimming and Diving: Graduated in 1978...Three-time Mid-American Conference one-meter diving champion in 1974, 1975, and 1976...Set a MAC record with 464.78 points in the one-meter diving competition at the 1974 MAC Championship...Won the Three-Meter Diving MAC Title and set the Kent State pool record in 1974...Named co-captain of the 1974-75 team...Three-time NCAA National Championship Qualifier in 1974, 1975 and 1976...Selected as team Most Valuable Player for the 1974-1975 season...Recorded an EMU Team Diving Record for six dives on the three-meter with 334.75 points...Finished 37th in the three-meter event and 44th in the one-meter competition at the NCAA National Championship in 1976...In 1977, he went on to coach at the University of Wyoming (1977-1984) and Kansas University (1984-1989), earning Big Eight Conference Diving Coach of the Year twice...Established the Tri-City Diving Club (for Midland, Saginaw, and Bay City areas) in the early 90's, serving as the head diving coach; producing two State Champions and three All-Americans...Competed in the IVth World Master's Swimming and Diving Championship placing seventh in the one-meter and sixth in the three-meter diving competitions...Became a five-time Master's National Champion for the 40-45 age group.
