EUGENE, Ore. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team closed the lid on the 2015 outdoor campaign, finishing tied for 39th at the 2015 NCAA Championships with six points, June 12.
Redshirt-senior Donald Scott (Apopka, Fla.-Apopka) ended his career donning the Green and White as one of the most dominant triple jumpers in EMU and Mid-American Conference history. Scott earned First Team All-America honors for the third time in his career, garnering the bronze medal finish with a personal and school record of 16.83 meters/55 feet 2.75-inches. With the jump, the Apopka, Fla. native is the first Eagle to break the 55-foot barrier both indoors and outdoors.
One more Eagle competed on the final day of the championships, with Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio-Maumee) in his debut performance on the national stage. The redshirt-sophomore finished 19th in the 5000m in 14:30.54, closing out a stellar sophomore campaign in which Fink was named the Most Valuable Performer at both the indoor and outdoor MAC Championships.
With the NCAA Championships in the books, the Eagles have come to the end of the 2015 campaign. The Green and White had a tremendous season, seeing four school records broken en route to winning the 23rd MAC Championship title in program history. With a wealth of talent returning to the squad for next season, the Eagles look to continue their tradition of excellence at both the conference and national level.
