CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- For the first time since the 2006-07 season, both the Eastern Michigan University men's and women's basketball teams have advanced to the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament after the two teams posted victories in a doubleheader, March 9. Both team will now travel to Cleveland, Ohio to play in the second round of the conference tournament at Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday, March 11.

The EMU women's basketball squad advanced to the second round of the MAC Tournament for the first time under third-year Head Coach Tory Verdi by way of a 70-52 victory over the Kent State University Golden Flashes, March 9, inside the Convocation Center. The sixth seeded Eagles outscored KSU 43-24 in the second half to even their record to 19-19 all-time in the MAC Tournament.

EMU women's basketball will take on No. 7 Toledo Wednesday, March 11, in the second round of the tournament. Tip off is slated for 2:30 p.m. from Quicken Loans Arena. The Eagles and the Rockets split its two regular season meetings with the Green and White taking a 75-61 road victory in the Glass City before UT responded with an 81-72 victory of its own inside the Convocation Center.

Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team punched its ticket to Quicken Loans Arena, winning a thrilling one-point overtime victory over Miami University in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, 62-61. The eighth-seeded Eagles held the ninth-seeded RedHawks without a field goal for over 13 minutes throughout the end of the second half and the majority of the overtime period.

The Eagles (20-12, 8-10 MAC), will square off with the No. 5 seed Bowling Green State University Wednesday, March 11. Eastern Michigan is looking for its third-straight trip to the quarterfinals with a victory over Bowling Green Wednesday night. Tip time is slated for 6:30 p.m. at 'The Q' in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

Tickets are available through the EMU Ticket Office, for all tournament games held at Quicken Loans Arena in which EMU participates, at the following prices: women's basketball: $10 and men's basketball: $34. EMU students can purchase women's tournament tickets for $5 or men's tournament tickets for $10 with a valid student ID. Ticket order reservations may be placed online at EMUTix.com, calling 734.487.2282 or purchased at the EMU table in the main ticket area inside the northeast entrance at Quicken Loans Arena. Pre-ordered tickets will require a valid photo ID for pick-up. Buying tickets for the men's games in advance is the only way to guarantee a spot in the Eastern Michigan fan section.
