Derek Moos will attend the NCAA Emerging Leadership Seminar after being nominated by EMU staff
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Graduate Assistant for Equipment Derek Moos was recently selected to attend the NCAA Emerging Leadership Seminar, Jan. 27-29, at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Ind. Moos, who previously worked as the Director of Baseball Operations, was nominated to attend this event by EMU Athletics administrators.
"I look forward to representing the Eastern Michigan Athletic Department, as the opportunity to connect with different administrators, individuals, and peers working within intercollegiate athletics is something I'm looking forward to," said Moos. The opportunity to connect with these individuals will hopefully enlighten me and allow me to bring back useful information to share amongst my peers."
The seminar is an annual professional development event that provides effective leadership, educational and transitional programing for more than 200 current graduate assistants and interns from institutions around the country, conference offices and affiliate organizations. The program, which takes place over three days, helps to educate, develop, and connect the participants, and increases the likelihood for career progression within collegiate sports.
"I would personally like to thank head baseball coach Mark Van Ameyde, equipment manager Ben Herman, all the athletic administrators, and specifically, Chris Hoppe, and Heather Lyke for giving me the opportunity to work within EMU's Athletic Department," remarked Moos. The opportunity to attend the Emerging Leaders Seminar would not be possible if it was not for these individuals. I look forward to this experience and the knowledge that I'm going to gain from attending it."
