Eagles of the Week Presented by EMU Financial

Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Financial's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Great Ibe and men's cross country runner Nick Raymond.

Week's Achievements:  
Raymond was selected as an at-large individual for the NCAA Championships, Nov. 21, based on his performance at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, Nov. 13. Raymond finished eighth at the event, crossing the finish line in 30:40.1. The Mid-American Conference individual champion was also selected as an All-Region honoree based upon his performance. The Erie, Mich. native looks to cap his impressive junior season at his first NCAA Championships.

Week's Achievements: 
Ibe recorded a game-high 21 tackles (9 solo), two for losses, and one quarterback sack in Eastern Michigan's Senior Day 28-17 loss to Mid-American Conference foe the University of Massachusetts. The 21 take-downs are tied for his career most and the tally tied with Tennessee's Jalen Reeves-Maybin for the most in the nation this season.  For his efforts he was named both the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, as well as the Walter Camp National FBS Defensive Player of the Week

Ibe's total is the most by an Eagle since last year when he hauled down 21 Minutemen in a contest also against UMass, Oct. 18, 2014. Eastern Michigan began tracking tackles in a game during the 1999 campaign, with Blake McCall holding the gold-standard with 29 against Ohio, Oct. 16, 1999.
