No. 5: Men's Basketball Produces First 20-Win Season since 1997-98
The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team saw its 2013-14 season come to an end Saturday, March 22, when the Eagles (22-15) dropped its second round game in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, 69-56, at Columbia University. Columbia (21-12) held EMU to just one field goal in the final 9:10 to stifle the Eagles.
Raven Lee notched the second-most points in his career after putting up 26 points on 10-of-22 shooting, while Glenn Bryant finished his collegiate career with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal, while shooting 5-of-7 from the floor. Senior center Da'Shonte Riley tied EMU's single season block record with 96 blocks when he swatted a shot late in the second half. The Green and White shot 40.4 percent on 21-of-52 shooting from the floor, while the Eagles hit five three pointers and had eight steals in the game.
The loss marked the end of the 2013-14 season for EMU. The Eagles saw their first 20-win season since 1997-98, as well as the most wins since the 1996-97 season with 22. EMU's Riley became the first player in Eastern Michigan history to be named the Mid-American Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, while Karrington Ward earned All-MAC Third Team honors.
