EUGENE, Ore. (EMUEagles.com)
—Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team saw five Eagles close out their season at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 12.

In the first event of the day for the team, Grzegorz Kalinowski (Torun, Poland-Nicolaus Copernicus University) turned in the second-fastest time of his career in the semifinal heat of the 1500m run.  The senior crossed the line at 3:43.18 to take ninth overall.  Though Kalinowski had one of the top-12 times, he did not make the cut for the championship heat as only the top five from each heat receive automatic qualification, plus the next two fastest times.  The Polish native had a faster finish than any of the first heat qualifiers, but his ninth-place finish in the second heat excluded him from continuing on to the finals.  Kalinowski finishes his career at EMU as the fourth-fastest 1500m runner in program laurels, while also being a staple in the 800m and a formidable opponent indoors for the mile run.

After a short break, the 4x400m relay team of Cameron Bolton (Missouri City, Texas-Hightower), Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay), Jeff Elam (Latrobe, Pa.-Greater Latrobe Senior), and Mason Waynes (Kenosha, Wis.-Bradford) turned in the third-best finish of the 2014 campaign, taking 13th in 3:06.64.  The quartet took sixth in the second heat, as the University of Florida and Baylor University claimed the two qualifying times into the championship heat.  The team recorded the second-fastest time in EMU history at the NCAA East Regional, May 31, and holds a bright future as all four members will be returning for the 2015 season.

The Green and White have one more competitor set to take the field on Saturday, June 14.  Donald Scott (Apopka, Fla-Apopka) is the third-ranked triple jumper in the nation and will fight for the national crown at 12:30 p.m. PDT on the final day of the NCAA Championships.

Results from the second day of action at Hayward Field will be available through flashresults.com, while ESPN3 will carry the live broadcast both on television and through WatchESPN
