Eagles record 7-0 win in second dual match of the day
Complete Results.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Head Coach Ryan Ray's Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team closed out out a two-match Saturday, Feb. 23, with a perfect 7-0 win over a visiting Oakland University team here indoors in the Chippewa Racquet Club in an evening match.
"I am proud of the effort the ladies gave today to sweep both matches," said Ray. "Doubleheaders are a good mental and physical test, and they past that test well today. Our doubles really started to click better, which has been an emphasis of ours. Now we need to prepare for three outdoor matches in California over spring break."
The Eagles opened action Saturday at 1 p.m. with a 7-0 victory over the University of Dayton here in the Chippewa Club. EMU returned later in the evening for the 7-0 shutout victory over Oakland University in a dual that began at 8:30 p.m.
The Eagles, now 5-6 on the season, won all three doubles matches to take the one doubles point and then followed up with six straight wins in singles.
On the day, the Eagles dropped just three sets all day long. Freshman Klara Supejova (Prague, Czech Republic) extended her winning streak to nine in-a-row at No. 2 singles, as she is now 19-4 on the season.
The Eagles now hit the road for a trio of matches at Cal State Northridge, March 5, Long Beach State, March 7, and UC Santa Barbara, March 8.
