Eagles Finish First Day of Competition at Meyo Invitational

The EMU women set two new school records in Friday's competition

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan men's and women's track and field teams are competing in the Meyo Invitational this weekend. There were multiple individual event successes for both the men and women's team on Friday afternoon.
On the women's side, the Eagles set two Eastern Michigan records on Friday afternoon. Angela Scarber broke her own record in the weight throw with a 17.85-meter toss, while the distance medley relay team set a new EMU record for women as well. The Green and White's team finished in fourth with a time of 11:30.21 and the foursome consisted of Shantavia Williams, Beverly Elcock, Victoria Voronko and Morgan Churchwell.
Grzegorz Kalinowski led the way for the EMU men with the second best time in Eagle history in the 1,000-meter run on Friday. Kalinowski completed the distance in 2:22.76 and he fell to just Chris O'Hara from Tulsa, who was the 2010 NCAA runner-up in the mile.
Action continues at the Meyo Invitational Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m.
