Women's Swimming and Diving Falls To Bulls

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team fell to the University at Buffalo this afternoon, 137-161, at Jones Natatorium.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 1-6 (1-4 MAC), and the Bulls improve to 6-0 (2-0 MAC).
Briana Emig (Sewickley, Pa.-Ambridge) earned a handful of wins for the Eagles. The reigning Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week kick started the afternoon with a first place time of 10:15.60 in the 1,000 freestyle. She later placed first in the 500 free and 200 free, finishing the distances in 4:58.23 and 1:52.47, respectively.
In the 100 breaststroke, Chelsea Allard (Walnut Creek, Calif.-Lake Forest (Ill.)) recorded a runner up, 1:05.96 performance. She would also take second in the 200 breast for the Eagles, touching the wall in 2:22.07.
Jacquelyn Swartz (Centerville, Ohio-Centerville) picked up two wins for the Green and White. She was first in the 200 butterfly in 2:05.82 and took second in the 100 fly in 57.81. Her second win of the afternoon came in the 200 individual medley. Her time of 2:07.77 was the best in the event.
On the boards, Lesley Vizurraga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) placed first in the one meter event, with Kelly Hendricks (Schaumburg, Ill.-Conant) and Christina Nunez-Wood (Denver, Colo.-Bear Creek) rounding out the top three for EMU. On the three-meter, Vizzaraga and Nunez-Wood went 1-2. Vizarraga tallied 294.45 for the win, and Nunez-Wood posted 254.33 in her runner up performance.
EMU will return to action next Friday, Jan. 28 when they host Xavier at Jones Natatorium. The dual-meet is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
