Detroit has won the last seven straight with the last EMU win an 82-80 home victory, Dec. 30, 1999.
MEDLOCK EARNS MAC CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR: EMU senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) has earned his second Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week Award for the season, this time sharing the honor with Western Michigan University's David Kool. The two West Division players were selected for the week ending Feb. 7.
Medlock's award is the fourth for an EMU player this season. He also won the award, Nov. 30, and teammate Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) captured the West Division honor, Nov. 16, and also Dec. 7.
The 6-foot Medlock turned in three outstanding efforts in leading the Eagles to a 2-1 record in last week's action. He finished the week with a 21.7 scoring average, a 3.7 rebound mark, a 4.7 assist average and a 1.7 steal average in those games. He made 17-of-37 field goal attempts (45.9 percent), 8-of-22 three-point shots (36.4), 23-of-27 free throws (75.2) while scoring 65 points in the three contests.
The senior point guard scored 12 points with three rebounds and five assists in a 62-59 win at Akron Monday, Feb. 1. Medlock's five three-point field goals against Ohio boosted him to 188 career triples, moving him ahead of current EMU Assistant Coach Carl Thomas (185 from 1987-91) for third place on the EMU career list. The only two players ahead of Medlock are Derrick Dial (214 from 1995-98) and Brian Tolbert (204 from 1992-96).
