BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team dropped its final game of Mid-American Conference cross-divisional play Wednesday night, Feb. 10, as the Eagles fell, 84-67, to the University at Buffalo Bulls at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, N.Y.

The loss drops EMU to 12-12 (4-7 MAC) overall, while Buffalo improves to 13-9 (6-5 MAC) with the victory.

As a team, the Eagles shot 92.9 percent (13-for-14) from the free throw line and 52.2 percent (24-for-46) from the field in the loss, but they could find no answer for a high-octane Bulls offense that shot 66.7 percent (32-for-48) from the field.

Redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) scored a team-high and tied a career-best mark with 26 points on 10-for-12 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds, but played just 24 minutes in the loss due to foul trouble.

Senior Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) and sophomore Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Robichaud) were the only other Eagles in double figures in the loss, as they tallied 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Bowdry paced the EMU offense early in the first half, scoring eight points in eight minutes on 4-for-5 shooting from the field, but was forced to sit on the bench for the majority of the opening frame after picking up a pair fouls.

Down by as many as eight in the opening frame, Medlock pulled the Eagles within a point with less than a minute to play, as his pull-up three pointer made it a 40-39 game, forcing Buffalo Head Coach Reggie Witherspoon to use a timeout. Medlock scored a team-best 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting in the first half, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. But a late basket by the Bulls' Max Boudreau put the Eagles behind, 42-39, going into the locker room, despite EMU shooting a game-best 63.6 percent (14-for-22) from the field in the opening frame.

The Eagles could find no answer for Buffalo's Rodney Pierce in the first 5:07 of the second half, as Pierce out-scored the Eagles, 11-4, by himself to put EMU down, 53-43, with 14:53 remaining in the game, forcing Eastern Michigan Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey to call a timeout. Pierce scored a game-high 27 points for the Bulls on 11-for-14 shooting from the field.

The Eagles never managed to recover from Buffalo's hot start to the second half, as UB would go up by as many as 18 points in the second half to all but seal the victory and hand EMU the loss in its final MAC cross-divisional contest.

The Eagles return home Sunday, Feb. 14, for a Valentine's Day date with the Broncos from Western Michigan University. Tip is set for 2 p.m. at the Convocation Center. EMU looks to avenge its Jan. 9 loss to WMU earlier this season, as the Eagles fell, 61-47, in their MAC opener at University Arena in Kalamazoo, Mich.
