Eagles Fall to Falcons 6-1

PERRYSBURG, Ohio—Despite a doubles win and a victory at the No. 3 singles flight, the Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 Mid-American Conference decision over Bowling Green State University Saturday afternoon, March 28, at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-13 overall and 0-4 in MAC action, while the Falcons improve to 9-4 and 2-1, respectively.
The Eagles picked up a doubles win a the second flight, with the duo of Karina Ahuja (New Delhi, India)Xu Chang (Beijing, China) held off Katia Babina and Samantha Kintzel, 8-6. EMU fell just short of winning the doubles point, as Miriam Westernk (Rheden, Netherlands) and Joanna Woo (Winnipeg, Manitoba) were edged out 9-7 by BGSU's Christine Chiricosta and Kelsey Jakupcin.
In singles, Chang won the Eagles only singles match, defeating Kintzel in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Eastern came close in two other matches, as Ahuja fell to Jakupcin in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (2), and Woo fell to Babina in three, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (6).
The Eagles will return to friendly confines of the Chippewa Racquet Club, hosting the University of Toledo, April 4. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
