YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team raced out to a 24-point halftime lead and never looked back on the way to a 90-47 win over Concordia University here Saturday, Nov. 7, in an exhibition game.

Senior center Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) led all scorers with 27 points while adding 10 rebounds. Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) added 14 points and nine boards while Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Robichaud) and junior college recruit Jay Higgins (Fayetteville, N.C.-IMG Academy-Hillsborough J.C.) added 12 points each.

Concordia was led by four players, Kyle Barlow, Marius Williams, Joel Hunter and Adam Skedgell with six points each.

Eastern won the battle of the boards, 52-30, and the Eagles made 31-of-68 field goals for 45.6 percent compared to Concordia's 16-of-54 for 29.6 percent.

Dobbins got the Eagles started with a three-point play, on a layup and free throw for the game's first points.

Concordia then raced out to a 9-7 lead on three consecutive three-point field goals before the Green and White fought back to take a 20-11 lead at the 12:32 mark on a layup by Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid).

The rest of the half belonged to the Eagles as they increased their lead to 24, 49-25, heading into the locker room at the half.

Higgins led the Eagles in the first half with 12 while Dobbins added 11. Eastern held a 27-15 edge in rebounding in the first half and also shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, hitting 5-of-10 triples. Eastern held the Cardinals to just 29.2 percent shooting from the field on 7-of-24 attempts.

Dobbins scored the Eagles' first six points of the second half to spot Eastern a 56-27, lead with 17:36 left and Eastern was able to substitute freely over the final 17 minutes on the way to the 43-point victory.

Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey's men's squad is set to open the 2009-10 regular season Saturday, Nov. 14, against Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.
