YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference office announced Monday morning that Eastern Michigan University women's soccer player, Chelsea Detrick, has been named Co-Player of the Week. She shares the award with Ohio's Kelsey Pichel. It's Detrick's first career MAC Player of the Week award.

The sophomore netted her third and fourth goals of the season this week, both going down as game-winners for the Eagles. She is now tied with Ashley Rodrigues for the team lead in goals for the Eagles.

The native of Grosse Point, Mich. struck first in the 54th minute against Buffalo last Friday. She used a neatly placed cross from Carissa Wilson and headed it past the keeper en route to a, 2-0, MAC home-opening win over Buffalo. She helped EMU remain unbeaten all-time in MAC home openers, pushing its record to 11-0-2 in such games.

Sunday against Kent State, she crossed over one defender before slipping it past the charging keeper to score the lone goal in the 54th minute of a 1-0 shutout of the Golden Flashes. Eastern Michigan is 6-2-4 overall and stays unbeaten in MAC play at 2-0-2.

Detrick led the league in points and goals in 2008 with a 24 and 11, respectively. She is tied for the team lead in points with nine and has scored points in three of her last four matches to date.

She'll try to make it three straight games with a goal scored when the Eagles will take on Miami University at home at 3 p.m. Friday.
