WTKA 1050 AM will broadcast its morning show from the Convocation Center

YPSILANTI, Mich. — Got tickets? The Eastern Michigan University Athletic Department and WTKA 1050 AM have teamed up to ask that question Tuesday, June 24, in the inaugural EMU Football Early Bird Ticket Event. The station's morning crew of Sam Webb and Andy Evans will broadcast from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the atrium of the Convocation Center to help promote football ticket sales for the upcoming 2008 season.

During the four-hour show EMU will be promoting various ticket incentives and fans are encouraged to stop by the Convocation Center. Free coffee and donuts will be offered from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., along with the ability to pick up schedule posters and schedule cards.

EMU football season tickets, group tickets, charity tickets, away game tickets and individual game tickets will all be on sale starting at 6 a.m. Additionally, all ticket purchases will include a free team poster and schedule magnet.

From 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., fans will be able to buy one ticket and get another ticket free. From 7 a.m. until 8 a.m., EMU Athletics will match any ticket purchase with a donation to a non-profit organization. For the 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. hour, fans can purchase football season tickets and receive 50 percent off a purchase of men's basketball season tickets. Finally, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., EMU Athletics will again match any ticket purchase with a donation to a non-profit organization.

The Early Bird Ticket Event is just one of many new marketing initiatives in an effort to average the NCAA mandated 15,000 fans per home game. The team and university are trying to establish more interest in EMU football and bring larger crowds to Rynearson Stadium.

Season ticket prices have been lowered and start at $45 for adults and $15 for children. Individual game tickets are $9 for adults and $3 for children. Season ticket holders will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a trip for two to travel with the EMU football team to take on Maryland, Sept. 20. The trip includes travel, hotel and game tickets. The winner of the trip will be announced at the 2008 home and season opener against Indiana State, Aug. 28.

EMU is also starting a charity ticket program this season. If fans cannot attend games, but would still like to purchase tickets, the EMU Athletics Department will donate them to non-profit organizations, youth groups and local schools as part of the charity ticket program. Fans can purchase tickets for this program at the group rate of $3, if they are willing to donate.

The Eagles will open their season with a home contest against the Indiana State University Sycamores Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. After that game, the Eagles will play in Rynearson Stadium four more times during the 2008 campaign.
