Five EMU programs in action this weekend

Baseball
The Eastern Michigan University baseball team continues Mid-American Conference West Division action this weekend in Muncie, Ind., May 2-4, versus Ball State University. The Eagles currently sit atop the West Division with an 11-4 record while Ball State resides in third place with a 9-6 mark. The Green and White are 5-1 against Ball State the past two seasons, including a series sweep last season in Muncie, 8-3, 6-3 and 6-4. EMU holds a slight 64-57-1 edge in the all-time series.

Softball
The Eastern Michigan University softball team will play its final games of the regular season this week, traveling to Buffalo, N.Y. and Kent, Ohio. The Green and White will take on the Bulls in a doubleheader Friday, May 2 ,at 1 p.m. The Eagles will then head to MAC-leading Kent State to take on the Golden Flashes in single games set for Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, May 4, at 1 p.m. Following this week will be the MAC Tournament in Akron, Ohio, May 7-10. The top eight teams, based on winning percentage in conference play, qualify for the annual event. EMU is currently in ninth place with four games remaining.

Men's Golf
The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team will play host to the 2008 Mid-American Golf Championship this weekend, May 2-4, at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The three-day, 72-hole event will culminate with the crowning of this year's champion Sunday afternoon. The nine MAC institutions that sponsor men's golf: The University of Akron, Ball State University, Bowling Green State University, Eastern Michigan University, Kent State University, Miami University, Northern Illinois University, Ohio University and the University of Toledo will descend on the area for a practice round, May 1, before beginning play at 8 a.m., May 2. The tournament will feature 36 holes Friday, 18 holes Saturday and the final 18 holes Sunday. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. each day. The tournament is open to the public and admission is free.

Men's and Women's Track
The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team returns to action Saturday, May 3, to compete in the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Additionally, the women's track and field team will be in action Saturday, May 3, when they travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the Jack Shaw Invitational.

Football
Have you ever wanted to experience what it is like to travel with the Eastern Michigan University football team? Now is your chance to find out, as the EMU Athletic Department is offering a lucky fan the chance to travel with the football team when it heads to the University of Maryland. Any person that purchases 2008 EMU football season tickets will be entered into a raffle for a trip for two to College Park, Md. to watch the Eagles and the Terrapins battle on Sept. 20. The trip includes bus and airline transportation, hotel lodging and game tickets. Food is not included in the package. Season ticket holders will receive one raffle entry for every season ticket purchased. Season tickets start at $45 for adults and $15 for youth.
