CLEVELAND, Ohio — Eastern Michigan University sophomore pitcher Robert Wendzicki (Brook Park, Ohio-Midpark) was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 31, the conference office announced today. Wendzicki was an integral part in the Eagles’ series sweep of MAC rival Miami March 29-30, picking up a win and a save in two appearances, as well as notching a win against Michigan State March 26.

Wendzicki (2-3) picked up his first win of the year at Michigan State, allowing just one hit in four innings of work while striking out four in the 10-3 victory. In the March 29 doubleheader against Miami, he picked up a save in game one, not allowing a hit while putting in an inning and two-thirds of work. In game two, Wendzicki threw two and a third innings, recording three strikeouts, not giving up a hit for his second win of the week.

Wendzicki and the Eagles take their five-game winning streak on the road for the next week. They will travel to Cleveland State, Tuesday, April 1, for a single-game followed by a trip back to East Lansing on April 2, battling Michigan State. First pitch against CSU is scheduled for 4 p.m.
