Eastern Loses 5-2 Heartbreaker to Toledo
3/28/2008 10:21:47 PM | Tennis
Frankowski and Bestehorn record singles wins
"This is a dissapointing loss," said head coach Ryan Ray. "We didn't have the full team giving the effort we need. When that happens, it's tough to win a team match on the road. I give Toledo credit, because they know how to compete, and I respect them for that. We need a strong week of practice prior to next weekends home matches."
The Eagles drop to 5-11 and 1-2 in MAC action while the Rockets improve to 11-4 and 2-1, respectively.
The Eagles recorded two singles wins in the team loss. Vanessa Frankowski won at the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Martina Wodzinski in a three set thriller on a tiebreaker, 6-1, 4-6, 10-8. Tina Bestehorn recorded the second victory for the Green and White, winning that No. 4 flight, defeating Jenny Belsky in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
The Eagles will return to the friendly confines of the Chippewa Racqueta Club hosting Ball State University April 4 and Miami University April 5. Both matches are set to take place at 1 p.m.
