HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Behind the solid play of senior Catherine Fortin and junior Stephany Fleet, the Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team finished in 10th place at the UALR Golf Classic with a 54-hole mark of 943 (323-305-315) Tuesday, March 25, here at the Diamante Country Club. The duo of Fortin and Fleet finished deadlocked for seventh with a two-day total of 225, making EMU one of just three teams in the tournament to boast a pair of top 10 finishers.
The University of Tulsa won the invitational with a team score of 912 (305-300-307), one shot in front of Florida International. The overall leader came down to a playoff hole. Christy Carter of Oral Roberts and Paula Hurtado of Florida International played on the 10th hole to settle the tie. After the hole, Carter came away with the playoff victory and best overall scorer of the classic.
