LEXINGTON, Ky. - Eastern Michigan University incoming freshman volleyball player Jillian Bates (Billings, Mont.-Billings Senior) was named to the 2007-08 AVCA High School Senior All-American team. Bates was one of 32 high school seniors to receive the award.
The 2008 volleyball recruit helped lead the Billings Senior High team to three consecutive state championships. During her senior year Bates was an All-State selection averaging a .324 attack percentage. The 6-2, middle-hitter recorded 0.96 blocks and 0.62 aces per game en route to a 31-0 mark her senior year and junior year she marked 2.07 kills and 1.17 blocks per game.
The AVCA High School Senior All-American Team is picked by coaches by a committee of high school head coaches who are members of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Bates’ head coach, Jeff Carroll is a Region 10 member of the AVCA.
