Daniel Holtzclaw, T.J. Lang and Jacory Stone all named to second team
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Three members of the Eastern Michigan University football team have earned All-Mid-American Conference honors for the 2008 season in voting by the league’s head coaches.
Senior middle linebacker Daniel Holtzclaw (Enid, Okla.-Enid), senior offensive tackle T.J. Lang (Ferndale, Mich.-Birmingham Brother Rice) and junior wide receiver Jacory Stone (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) were all named second-team All-MAC after turning in outstanding seasons in 2008.
The 6-foot-1, 246-pound Holtzclaw has been a fixture at middle linebacker since his first day on campus as a freshman. He started all 47 games the past four seasons and finished his career as the second-leading tackler in EMU history with 437 stops. Holtzclaw once again led the Eagles in tackles with 107 stops in 2008, good for a tie for 34th nationally and an eighth-place MAC ranking.
The 6-0 1/2, 207-pound Stone led the Eagles in both receptions (88) and yards receiving (943) in 2008. He also had three touchdown receptions. Stone was third in the MAC and 37th in the NCAA in receiving yards and ranked second in the MAC and tied for eighth in catches in the latest NCAA statistical report.
The 6-4 1/2, 307-pound Lang, started all 12 games in 2008 and has been a starter on the offensive line in all 36 games over the past three seasons. Lang began his EMU career in 2005 as a defensive lineman and switched to the offensive line in 2006.
