MUNCIE, Ind. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team saw its season come to an end Tuesday night, Nov. 18, with a 3-0 (17-25 18-25, 19,25) setback to Ball State University in the first round of the 2008 Mid-American Conference Tournament at Worthen Arena. The No. 10 seeded Eagles struggled offensively managing just 27 kills and a .155 attack percentage compared to 52 kills and a .336 hitting percentage for the seventh seeded Cardinals.
 
With the loss the Eagles end their season with a 10-22 (4-12 MAC) record. Meanwhile, the Cardinals improve to 12-20 (6-10 MAC) and will now face No. 2 Ohio University Friday, Nov. 21, in the quarterfinals at the SeaGate Centre in Toledo, Ohio.
 
For the Eagles sophomore middle blocker Joi McKenzi (State College, Pa.-State College) paced the Eagle attack with six kills and a .308 hitting percentage. Senior Hayvolla Leite (Paraiba, Brazil-Indian Hills CC), junior Victoria Randolph (Cincinnati, Ohio-Mount Notre Dame) and sophomore Jennifer Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) all recorded five kills on the night.
 
Four Ball State players reached double digits in kills led by Alisha Green with a match-best 12. Julie Breivogel notched a double-double with 11 kills and 21 digs for the victorious Cardinals.
