Eagles Fall to BGSU at Home, 3-0

EMU will host Miami University tomorrow at 7 p.m.
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team fell to 8-14 on the season (2-5 MAC) tonight, Friday, Oct. 17 at the Convocation Center, as the Falcons from Bowling Green State University downed the Eagles, 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, 21-25), in a Mid-American Conference match-up.
Jill Wolosiansky (Uniontown, Ohio-Green) had a solid performance for EMU, as the senior tallied 11 kills and hit .421 in the match. Senior Hayvolla Leite (Paraiba, Brazil-Indian Hills C.C.) and sophomore Jennifer Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) each tallied six kills against the Falcons.
The two squads battled back and forth in the opening set, but after taking a 7-6 lead, the Eagles would fall victim to 11 consecutive points by the Falcons, leading to 17-7 BGSU advantage. Despite a late rally by the Eagles, the Falcons would take the first set, 25-19. The Falcons would keep their momentum going, claiming wins in the next two sets to leave Ypsilanti with a sweep.
Freshman Ashley Mason (Eastlake, Ohio-Lake Catholic) tallied 26 assists in the match and tied for the team-high in digs with seven.
