Eagles Fall to Cardinals, 2-0

EMU loses first conference match
MUNCIE, Ind. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team fell to the defending MAC regular season champion Ball State Cardinals, 2-0 today in MAC action at the BSU Soccer Field. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-4-2 (1-1-0), while Ball State improves to 5-4-0 (2-0-0).
The Eagles struggled offensively, getting off five shots, with only two shots on goal. The Cardinals countered with 19 total shots, with eight coming on goal.
Ball State got off to a quick start when Sarah Schumacker netted a goal less than four minutes into the game. The Eagles would tighten up defensively, not allowing another goal until the 77th minute. Annie Aiello converted a penalty kick to put the Cardinals up 2-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Manville made six saves, while allowing two goals.
The Eagles will be in action again Friday, Oct. 5 when they travel to Toledo, Ohio to take on the Rockets. Game time is set for 4 p.m. The Green and White will then travel to Bowling Green for a Sunday tilt with the Falcons at 1 p.m.
