YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team opened the 2007 portion of the Mid-American Conference schedule with a convincing 3-0 decision (30-24, 30-18, 30-24) over Ball State University Friday night here at the Convocation Center. With the victory, the Green and White have won nine of the last 10 in conference lidlifters dating back to a three-set victory over Central Michigan, Sept. 23, 1998.
With the victory EMU ups its record to 10-5 (1-0 MAC) while Ball State drops to 1-13 (0-2 MAC).
 The EMU offense, which finished with a .176 attack percentage, was led by seniors Katie Bates (Delta, Ohio-Evergreen) and Becky Reenders (Grand Haven, Mich.-Grand Haven) who each collected 10 kills. Senior setter Kate Sulewski (Ottawa Lake, Mich.-Bedford) added a team-best 12 digs.
 
Individually for Ball State, sophomores Julie Breivogel and Elaina Kakatolis tied for team-high honors with eight kills each, while senior Brittany May chipped in seven.
 
The Eagles have a short night before returning to the court Saturday, Sept. 22, to tangle with the University of Toledo. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the EMU Convocation Center.
