ATHENS, Ohio — The Mid-American Conference West Division champion Eastern Michigan University softball team wrapped-up the regular season with a 6-1 decision over Ohio University here Sunday afternoon at the Ohio Softball Field. The Eagles finished the 2007 season with a 13-5 MAC record for a .722 winning percentage, the best in school history. Sophomore Heather Han connected on her third home run of the weekend.           

Senior Michelle Lloyd (9-7) allowed five hits and recorded nine strikeouts in the complete game effort.    

Senior Lauren Clark posted her 17th multi-hit game of the season recording a 2-for-4 game with a double. Freshman Jenny Scherer added her team-leading 11th double of the season.      

EMU notched two runs in the second inning without recording a hit. Sophomore Heather Han reached on an error and junior Jessica Grant reached on an unsuccessful fielder’s choice. With two outs, a fly ball by Clark was dropped in center field allowing two runs to score.     

An RBI double by Scherer scored junior Ashley Strauss, who reached on an error, in the third frame. A single by Han and a walk to Grant loaded the bases, but back-to-back outs kept the Eagles up 3-0.

Clark started the fourth inning with a single to right field and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Strauss, giving Eastern a 4-0 advantage.      

The Bobcats scored its only run in the fifth inning off three singles.  

Han’s two run home run in the top of the seventh gave the Eagles the 6-1 victory.  

The Eagles earned the No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament and will play Ohio (No. 7 seed) at 1:30 p.m. at Currie Field in Midland, Mich., Wednesday, May 9.
