Football home opener against Ball State commemorates Eagle Nation Day
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University Athletic Department will kickoff the 2007 football season with Eagle Nation Day Saturday, Sept. 8, at Rynearson Stadium. Eagle Nation Day is designated to pay tribute to the entire EMU family, alumni, students, fans and community. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
During the game, EMU will commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the California Bowl victory. The 1987 football team and coaches will be present and honored at halftime. EMU will also recognize all local area high school marching bands on Eagle Nation Day.
“We are looking forward to kicking off the 2007 season with Eagle Nation Day and celebrating the 20th anniversary of our California Bowl and MAC Championship team,” said director of athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg. “Our goal is to provide EMU fans and the Ypsilanti community with a fun, family-friendly pre-game and competitive, exciting games on the field.”
The festivities will begin at 1 p.m. in the Eagles’ Landing, the debut of EMU’s new tailgate area that will open two hours prior to each home football game. Eagles’ Landing is the pre-game destination for EMU football fans, providing a centralized entertainment venue on game day. Eagles’ Landing offers food and beverage, entertainment, and inflatable rides for children. Eagles’ Landing also features corporate hospitality tents, appearances by EMU’s mascot, Swoop, and EMU student-athletes and coaches
