YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Eastern Michigan University baseball team pushed its winning streak to four straight with a 7-3 decision Wednesday afternoon versus Oakland University here at Oestrike Stadium. Junior Jeff Hehr went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI and a home run while freshman Kevin Sikora tossed 7.0 innings of seven hit, three run baseball to improve his record to 3-0.
Oakland took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on two RBI singles.
EMU tied the game, 2-2, in the third inning on an Aaron Powell RBI double to score Trumaine Riley and a RBI single from Steve Bradshaw to plate Powell.
The Eagles added two more runs to take a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning on Hehr’s solo shot and a RBI single by Kyle Rhoad.
Oakland got a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to pull within one, 4-3. Hehr notched a RBI single through the left side to score Bradshaw increasing EMU’s lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the inning.
EMU got insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings en route to the 7-3 victory.
The Eagles will return to the field again later today at 6 p.m. versus Siena Heights.
