COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished in seventh place after carding a three-round total of 965 (318-314-333) at the Lady Buckeye Invitational hosted by The Ohio State University at the par-72 Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished in seventh place after carding a three-round total of 965 (318-314-333) at the Lady Buckeye Invitational hosted by The Ohio State University at the par-72 Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course.
The Eagles were led by junior Catherine Fortin (t-13th), who carded an 80 during play today, following up her 77 and 75 during play on Saturday. The Beauceville, Canada native was the third highest finishing Mid-American Conference golfer in the tournament along with recording her 10th consecutive top 20 appearance this season.
Following Fortin was sophomore Courtney Aili who tied for 21st (77-77-84=238) and sophomore Stephany Fleet who tied for 58th (81-81-88=250). Junior Paola Sanchez (83-83-87=253) ended play in 65th place and senior Kelly Boogaard (86-81-87=254) ended play tied for 66th. Redshirt freshman Marjorie Thuot rounded-out action for the Green and White, finishing tied for 68th (91-83-82=256).
Purdue remained the leader Sunday amongst the 14-team field, firing a 54-hole team total of 891 for the tournament crown. Michigan State (911) took home second and Kent State (933) third, respectively.
Eastern Michigan can be caught in action next weekend when it hosts the 2007 Mid-American Championships at the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The tournament will begin Friday, April 27, and wrap-up on Sunday, April 29, and all results can be found at EMUEagles.com following each round of play.
