LITTLE Rock, Ark. – Sophomore Chris Ross fired a final round 72 to help lead the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team to a seventh place finish at the UALR/First Tee Collegiate, Tuesday at Chenal Country Club. Ross finished in a tie for 17th place after finishing the three-round tournament total of 216 (72-72-72). The Eagles shot 300 during Tuesday’s final round to finish at 874.
LITTLE Rock, Ark. – Sophomore Chris Ross fired a final round 72 to help lead the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team to a seventh place finish at the UALR/First Tee Collegiate, Tuesday at Chenal Country Club. Ross finished in a tie for 17th place after finishing the three-round tournament total of 216 (72-72-72). The Eagles shot 300 during Tuesday’s final round to finish at 874.
Heavy winds brought the scores up in the final round at Chenal Country Club’s Founders Course. The 91-player field posted scoring averages of 73.65 and 73.86 in Monday’s two rounds, but saw that number rise to 75.93 on Tuesday.
Other EMU scores included junior Graham Hill posting a final round 72 to close out the event with a 220 (73-75-72) in a tie for 33rd. Freshman Cam Burke struggled posting a 79 one day after firing a 68 in the second round to close with a two-day total of 222 (75-68-79). Senior Bryan Hasse and redshirt freshman Brandon Lemons rounded out the Eagles’ scores with a 223 (72-70-81) and a 226 (72-77-77), respectively.
Nationally ranked Lamar University carded a five-under par 283 in the final round to win the classic for the second-straight year. All five Cardinals finished with sub-par totals, giving each a spot in the top 10, led by Justin Harding, who captured medalist honors with a 10-under par 206 total. Middle Tennessee finished second in the team standings, 16 shots back of Lamar, after carding the lowest team score of the final round (281). Sam Houston State took third place with an 857 total.
Eastern Michigan returns to action April 6-7 at the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va..
