CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team shot a 303 in the final round of the Saluki Invitational to win the title with a score of 610. Southern Illinois finished second with a score of 613 and Illinois State finished third with a score of 615.

EMU sophomore Stephany Fleet took medalist honors after shooting a one-over-par 73 in the final round to finish with a score of 145. Fleet led from wire-to-wire as ISU’s Laura Harris and Austin Peay’s Staci Lynch tied for second with a score of 148.

The victory marked Fleet’s first career tournament title along with her setting a career-low for 36-holes. The Dewitt, Mich. native’s previous two-round record was a 151 at the Cardinal Classic, Sept. 9-10, 2006. Overall with the victory, Fleet becomes just the eighth Eagle to claim medalist honors in the program’s nine-year history.

Sophomore Courtney Aili came in fourth with a score of 151 after shooting a 73 in the final round. Aili set a personal best for 36 holes, breaking her previous mark of 160 at the Red Rocks Invitational, March 3-4, en route to her first career top five showing.

Junior Catherin Fortin shaved four strokes off her first day total to record a 77 and finish tied for 16th place with a 158. Senior Kelly Boogaard posted an 83 to finish tied for 21st with a 159.  Junior Paola Sanchez and redshirt freshman Marjorie Thuot rounded out the lineup with a 165 (82-83) and a 170 (90-80), respectively.

The Eagles look to continue their stellar play April 6-7 at the Eastern Kentucky Spring Classic in Richmond, Ky.
