Becky Reenders Selected MAC West Division Player of the Week

This marks Reenders’ third career MAC weekly award and the second this season.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan University senior middle blocker Becky Reenders (Grand Haven, Mich.-Grand Haven) was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 12. This marks Reenders’ third career MAC weekly award and the second this season.

Reenders averaged 4.50 kills, 3.25 digs, 5.25 points and a .280 attack percentage as the Eagles closed out the regular season with a pair of 3-1 setbacks to Central Michigan, Nov. 8, and Kent State, Nov. 10. Against Kent State she equaled her career-best 25 kills, which she had previously set last season against Columbia, Sept. 16, 2006, at the College of Charleston Invitational. During the KSU match she recorded a double-double with 18 digs to go along with the 25 put-aways. Against CMU she notched 11 kills, eight digs and five total blocks.

Reenders is among the Mid-American Conference leaders, currently ranking eighth with 3.63 put-aways per game and fourth in blocks at 1.04. She is also mentioned nationally in those same categories, ranked 232nd in blocks and 234th in kills. For her career, Becky ranks eighth in EMU history with 231 block assists and has 276 total blocks in her career. She moved into the top 15 in the EMU record book with 866 kills.

Eastern Michigan returns to the friendly confines of the Convocation Center Tuesday, Nov. 13, hosting the University of Akron in the opening round of the 2007 MAC Volleyball Tournament. The Eagles are the seventh seed while the Zips are seeded 10th. The winner advances to the SeaGate Centre in Toledo, Ohio Friday, Nov. 16, for a quarterfinal showdown with No. 2 Western Michigan University.
