Men's Basketball Picked Fourth in MAC West

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Mid-American Conference NewsMedia Association has selected the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team to finish fourth in the MAC West Division in the 2007-08 season in a preseason poll released today.

Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey's Eagles received 92 points in the preseason poll. Western Michigan was chosen to finish first in the MAC West with 173 points and 23 first-place votes. Toledo was second with 144 points and six first-place votes and Central Michigan was third with 131 points and three votes for first. Eastern was fourth followed by Northern Illinois with 58 points and Ball State with 53.

Kent State was the preseason pick to win both the East Division and the MAC post-season tournament title. The East Division totals, with first-place votes in parenthesis, are as follows: Kent State 147 (10), Miami 146 (9), Ohio 131 (8), Akron 128 (5), Buffalo 52, and Bowling Green 47.

The Eagles are slated to open the 2007-08 season with a Green-White Intrasquad, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center. Eastern is slated to play Northwood in an exhibition game, Oct. 31, before opening the regular season at home, Nov. 9, against Brown University at 8 p.m.
