Women's Swimming Zips By Akron

AKRON, Ohio -- Paced by a strong performance by 2006 Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year Madeleine Pilchard, the Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team downed Akron, 174-122, in league action, here Saturday afternoon in Ocasek Natatorium. Pilchard won four individual events for the Eagles.
Pilchard finished first in all four freestyle races, claiming the 50, 100, 500 and 1000-yard events. Ashley Durand claimed the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke, while Leeza Moser won the 400-yard IM. The Eagles swept both the diving events, with Sarah Chrzanowski winning from the one-meter board and Becky Renkola from the three-meter.
The Eagles will be in action again Saturday, Jan. 27 when they travel to Buffalo for a 1 p.m. league meet.
