EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team was swept by Michigan State University in the opener of the 2006 MSU Spartan Invitational, Friday, Sept. 1, here at Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Mich.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team was swept by Michigan State University in the opener of the 2006 MSU Spartan Invitational, Friday, Sept. 1, here at Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Mich.
With the victory Michigan State improves to 4-0 on the year while the Eagles fall to 1-4.
The Spartans defeated the Eagles 30-24, 30-24, 30-21 as the two squads met for the first time since the 1998 campaign. Senior middle blocker Lindsay Piccolioni led the way with 12 kills, while junior middle blocker Becky Reenders tallied 11 kills and five blocks (3 solo, 2 assist). Junior setter Kate Sulewski added 28 assists and four digs in the setback.
In the Eagles' second game of the day; they face Miami (Fla.) at 4 p.m.
