Baseball Shutout by Louisville, 13-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky.
– The Eastern Michigan University baseball team was shut out out by Louisville, 13-0, here Saturday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 4-6 on the season while Louisville improves to 3-8 overall.Eastern could only muster five total hits against Louisville with junior Trumaine Riley leading the Eagles offensively, going 1-for-3 at the plate. Josh Ivan, Brian Blackburn, Patrick Dean and Derek Lehrman also notched one hit each during the game.
Junior Trystan Magnuson (2-1) picked up the win for the Cardinals pitching six scoreless innings while only
surrendering two hits with five strikeouts. Freshman Kevin Wammes (0-2) picked up the loss for the Eagles after pitching to just four batters in the first inning.
Eastern Michigan found itself in a hole right from the start as Louisville put up four runs in the first and added another in the second for a 5-0 lead. As the EMU offense continued to struggle, the Cardinals put the game out of reach with a run in the sixth and seven in the eight en route to the 13-0 victory.
The final game of the four-game series between EMU and Louisville is set for Sunday, March 5, at 1 p.m.
