Women's Tennis Falls To UCF, 5-2

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Eastern Michigan University women’s team tennis fell, 5-2, to the University of Central Florida in a hard-fought match here, Tuesday, at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Eagles fall to 3-3 on the season, while the Golden Knights improve to 5-4.
Eastern kept it close in all three doubles matches before falling 8-6, 8-5 and 8-6, respectively in the No. 1 thru No. 3 spots to give UCF an early 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium) led the Eagles in singles play with a come-from-behind victory over UCF's Kenza Belbacha, 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot while junior Elizabeth Syrova (Montreal, Quebec-Ecole Secondaire Jean XXIII Dorval) defeated Jenny Carati, 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles position. However, it was not enough as the Golden Knights notched victories at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 positions to close out the match for the 5-2 victory.EMU continues on its Florida trip with road dual matches versus Savannah State (March 1), 11 a.m., at North Florida (March 3), 2 p.m. and at Jacksonville (March 3), 2 p.m.
