Basketball Inks Marvin Skipper to National Letter

Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey signs a 6-foot-9 post player from Detroit Pershing

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Marvin Skipper, a 6-foot-9 power forward, from Detroit Pershing High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team starting in the 2007-08 campaign, head coach Charles E. Ramsey announced today.

"We are extremely happy to be adding someone of Marvin’s character and basketball ability to our program," said Ramsey. "He will bring us added size and strength in the post."

Skipper, ranked as the top power forward in Michigan by Prep Spotlight Magazine, will provide the Eagles size and scoring in the post. As a junior, the Detroit native averaged a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.

A highly touted player, Skipper is one of the top players in the state of Michigan according to Bankhoops.com along with being selected a top 300 player in the nation by Hoopscoop.com. A 2006 honorable mention All-Metro selection by the Detroit Free Press, Skipper will join former Doughboy teammate and current EMU freshman William Cooper on the Ypsilanti campus next season.
