Eagles wrap up the season in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team closed out the 2006 season Saturday with a 17th place finish, here at the NCAA Regional on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Junior Kalli Williams (Dexter, Mich.- Dexter), who has been the lead runner for the Eagles all season finished 52nd overall (best among EMU runners) with a time of 22:36.38 in the 6k event.
Although the Eagles did not qualify for the NCAA Championships, their finish of 17th place with 488 points is a vast improvement from their 28th place, 804 point finish just one season ago.
Sophomore Melissa Green (Brecksville, Ohio/Broadview Heights) raced to the next highest finish for Eastern Michigan, turning in a 69th place finish with a time of 22:54.47.
Michigan State University won the regional event, accumulating just 63 points. Nicole Edwards from the University of Michigan won the individual honors with a 20:50.91 finish. There were a total of 209 runners in the event.
